Attributes[edit | edit source]

Despite the changes in his moveset, Bowser Jr. still plays largely the same.

Changes from SSB4[edit | edit source]

Bowser Jr. has been heavily buffed from SSB4.

Attributes[edit | edit source]

  • Buff.png The Clown Car and Bowser Jr.'s hurtboxes each have more defense (0.88x > 0.85x for the Clown Car, 1.15x > 1x for Bowser Jr.)
  • Nerf.png He has a slower walk speed (0.88 > 0.85)
  • Buff.png He has a faster run speed (1.424 > 1.45)
  • Buff.png He has a faster air speed (1.08 > 1.1)
  • Notice.png He is lighter (108 > 98), making him easier to launch but harder to combo

Ground attacks[edit | edit source]

  • Buff.png The final hit of his neutral combo has better range and launch power
  • Notice.png His forward tilt can no longer be angled
  • Buff.png His up tilt has longer range, has better juggling ability, and does more damage in front of Bowser Jr.
  • Buff.png His dash attack now swings up and down, giving it better range
  • Buff.png His up smash hits more times, is more powerful, and has better range
  • Buff.png His down smash has better range, buries opponents, and has significantly less ending lag

Aerial attacks[edit | edit source]

  • Buff.png His neutral aerial has better range
  • Nerf.png His neutral aerial has less knockback
  • Notice.png His forward aerial now knocks opponents downwards, and has range above him allowing it to combo from his up aerial into his down aerial
  • Buff.png His up aerial has better range, allowing it to combo from Clown Kart Dash better, and lower knockback, allowing it to combo into his forward aerial better
  • Buff.png His down aerial has less ending lag
  • Notice.png His down aerial can meteor smash opponents hit by the tip

Throws/other attacks[edit | edit source]

  • Notice.png His forward throw has less launching power, which allows it to combo into his up aerial or tilt
  • Buff.png His down throw now buries opponents, allowing easier comboing into Clown Kart Dash

Special attacks[edit | edit source]

  • Buff.png Clown Cannon takes less time to charge, and charge can be stored by tilting the control stick, which makes Bowser Jr. dodge
  • Notice.png Bowser Jr. leaps back a short distance before using Clown Kart Dash
  • Notice.png Bowser Jr. can now use five different aerial attacks after using Abandon Ship!
    • Notice.png Neutral aerial is identical to the sole attack from SSB4
    • Notice.png Forward aerial has him swipe his claws, which has less range and launch power than his neutral but does more damage
    • Notice.png Back aerial has him perform a sex kick behind himself
    • Notice.png Up aerial functions identically to his non-helpless up aerial, but with less power
    • Notice.png Down aerial has him perform a ground pound, plummeting quickly towards the ground
  • Notice.png Instead of releasing Mechakoopas to walk around, Bowser Jr. now pulls them out and holds them
  • Nerf.png Mechakoopas no longer instantly explode when thrown at an opponent, instead doing a small amount of damage and piercing through them
