Shadow (シャドウ, Shadow) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream. His respective voice actors, Kirk Thornton and Kōji Yusa, reprise their roles as Shadow.
Attributes[edit | edit source]
Contrary to popular belief, Shadow is actually not a full clone of Sonic, instead sharing some neutral attacks, but with unique special moves. Shadow’s playstyle is much like Sonic’s, being a fast character with powerful attacks, but the two still manage to have their differences. Template:Clr

- Down Taunt: Shadow crosses his arms and scoffs.
On-Screen Appearance[edit | edit source]
Shadow speeds in, then screeches to a halt.
Idle Poses[edit | edit source]
- Shadow crosses his arms and looks away, annoyed.
- Shadow briefly hovers in midair.
Crowd cheer[edit | edit source]
Sha - dow!
Victory Fanfare[edit | edit source]
The level clear sound from Shadow the Hedgehog.
Victory Poses[edit | edit source]
- Shadow comes roaring in on his bike from the left side of the screen, before speeding off into the distance.
- Shadow looks around, saying, "Where's that damn fourth Chaos Emerald?"
- Shadow crosses his arms, saying, "Hmph…fine."
- If Sonic is present in the match, Shadow instead says "You're not even good enough to be my fake."
Trophies[edit | edit source]
- Shadow
- The ultimate life form, Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow was created by Dr. Eggman's grandfather a long time ago, but has since become an ally of Sonic the Hedgehog. In his origin game, Shadow was almost a look-alike of Sonic. In Smash, it's somewhat similar; Shadow and Sonic share a lot of moves. However, their special moves are very different.
- Shadow (Alt.)
- Shadow's down special fires a special spear at the opponent. It knocks them back a fair distance, and it goes diagonally downward when used in midair. His up special is Chaos Control, where he teleports himself elsewhere on the field. Be careful for a surprise attack from Shadow.
- Chaos Blast
- The Chaos Emeralds give life to everything, but sometimes, they can take it away. For Shadow's Final Smash, he gathers up his energy, and unleashes it in a powerful blast that KOs opponents surprisingly early. However, with precise timing, it can be dodged, so watch out.
- Shadow the Hedgehog (12/2005)
Alternate costumes[edit | edit source]
Default – Shadow's recent design, from the newer Sonic games.
Purple – Based on Rouge the Bat.
Red – Based on E-123 Omega.
Blue – Based on Sonic.
Cyan – Humorously has on Maria's dress.
Orange – Based on Tails.
Silver – Based on Silver.
Boom – Based on Shadow's appearance in Sonic Boom.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Shadow is the first Smash character to swear (specifically, one of his victory poses and KO screams involve the word "damn").
- Shadow is the second character to be upgraded from Assist Trophy status to playable status, the first being Mac_(SSB4) Little Mac.
- Therefore, he is the third character to be a previously summoned character via an item and then become playable, behind Charizard and the aforementioned Little Mac.
- Shadow has a few references to his home series:
- His second victory pose is a reference to the iconic scene from Shadow the Hedgehog.
- His third victory pose is a reference to his select animation from the Mario & Sonic games. The special quote for Sonic, on the other hand, is a reference to the famous scene from Sonic Adventure 2.
- His side taunt is actually a reference to a fan made image in the Sonic fanbase.
- His down special customs, Chaos Arrow and Chaos Lance, are both upgrades of Chaos Spear, found in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), respectively.
