Scizor steels itself for battle?!
—Introduction Tagline

Scizor was confirmed as a playable character for Super Smash Bros. Dream on February 19th, 2016. It is the sixth Pokemon newcomer to be represented in Super Smash Bros. Dream, alongside Nidoking, Pokémon Ranger, Youngster Joey, Wes, and Meowstic.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

  • Use 40 or more Metal Boxes in a single VS match.
  • Play 212 VS matches.

Attributes[edit | edit source]

Scizor is the heaviest Pokemon character in the game, its weight even surpassing that of Charizard. As such, it possesses attacks that are slow, but quite powerful, though there are exceptions, such as its neutral attack. Scizor also has some of the best vertical endurance in the game, thanks to aforementioned high weight and very fast falling speed. In addition to this, Scizor possesses launch resistance against some physical attacks until around 25%, provided they aren't extremely powerful to begin, as well as taking x0.95 damage from said attacks, making it very capable at sponging attacks that aren't projectiles or fire based. However, all of these traits form a double edged sword, as Scizor's weight and falling speed make it notably susceptible to being comboed and juggled, and its falling speed can also make its offstage game quite risky. On top of this, Scizor takes x1.25 damage from any sort of fire based attack, referencing its 4x weakness to Fire in the Pokemon games due to its Bug/Steel typing. Overall, Scizor functions as a powerful hitter that can unleash dangerous punishes to the opponent, and can tank hits quite well itself, but generally suffers against characters that can outspeed it and combo it offstage, especially if they can deal fire damage against it.

Moveset[edit | edit source]

Name Damage Description
Neutral attack 1.4% (loop) 3% (final hit) Scizor unleashes a flurry of punches with one arm, and finishes with a strong punch with the other arm. Has quick start up and decent knockback. Functions similarly to Meta Knight's neutral attack.
Forward tilt 11.5% Scizor swings one of its pincers in a diagonal downward arc. Motion is identical to one of its attacking animations in the Generation VI Pokemon games, though slightly faster. Moderately slow start up and end lag, though quite strong for a tilt.
Up tilt 9.5% Scizor raises one of its pincers in the air to clamp at any opponents above it.
Down tilt 8% Scizor crouches down and clamps forward from a low angle with one of its pincers. Quick start up and average end lag. Its vertical knockback allows for follow ups until around mid percents.
Dash attack 10% Scizor swings its pincer horizontally as it dashes forward. Fast start up and decent KO power, but suffers from slow end lag which can be punishable if missed.
Forward smash 19% Scizor leans back a bit with its pincers close to itself, then leans forward and thrusts both pincers forward as they clamp down. Based on one of Scizor's attacking animations from the Generation VI Pokemon games. Slow start up and somewhat slow end lag, though is very powerful and possess armor against attacks with weak knockback during start up and active hitboxes. Can also be angled.
Up smash 3% (first and second hits), 9% (final hit) Scizor speedily clamps upward three times, with the last hit launching the opponent upwards. Like with its forward smash, this attack also possesses armor during start up.
Down smash 14% Scizor faces the screen and crouches, swinging both pincers on both sides. Like its other smash attacks, it possesses armor on start up.
Neutral aerial 8% (clean), 6% (late) Scizor faces the screen and curls up as it generates sound waves around itself that deal electric damage. Functions similarly to a sex kick.
Forward aerial 11% Scizor swings its open pincer in a vertical arc in front of itself. Slow start up and moderate end and landing lag, but is decently strong, and has the unique property of being able to be used to cling onto walls if used at the right time. This can only be done once until Scizor lands on solid ground.
Back aerial 5% (first and second hits) Scizor performs a backhanded blow with one pincer before turning to strike out with its other pincer. Functions similarly to Link's back aerial, though with slightly more start up. Also turns Scizor around after using the move, similar to the back aerials of Marth, Lucina, and Roy.
Up aerial 12.5% Scizor headbutts in a very similar manner to Ness, though slightly slower. Can KO reliably starting at 112% near the upper blast line.
Down aerial 15% (meteor), 11% (non meteor) Scizor faces down and swings its pincers outward in a cross-motion from in front of its body to its sides. The attack meteor smashes right as the pincers meet each other. Possesses moderate start up and end lag.
Grab Scizor reaches out with its pincers.
Pummel 3.1% Scizor clamps down on the grabbed opponent. Fairly slow.
Forward throw 7% Scizor slashes the opponent away. Very fast throw, with little cooldown, and can be followed up on with a dash attack until mid percents.
Back throw 1% (1-6 swings), 8% (slam) Scizor briskly swings the opponent up to six times before hurling them powerfully down onto the ground behind it, the impact causing them to bounce off the ground in a diagonal angle. Very powerful throw. Can KO at the edge starting at 125%.
Up throw 2% (throw), 8% (tackle) Scizor throws the foe into the air, then quickly flies around and above it, tackling it from behind. Can KO starting at 150%.
Down throw 9% Scizor slams the opponent into the ground. Deals vertical knockback, though somewhat too high for guaranteed follow ups.
Floor attack (front) 7% Scizor strikes from the front to the back before getting up.
Floor attack (back) 7% Same as above.
Floor attack (trip) 5% Same as above.
Edge attack 7% Scizor climbs up and clamps forward.
Neutral special Default Flash Cannon 5%-20% (Scizor), 24% (Mega Scizor) Scizor shoots out a sphere of silver energy. Its explosion resembles the animation when Flash Cannon hits an opponent in the Generation IV Pokemon games. Can be charged in a similar manner to Samus' Charge Shot. When Mega Scizor uses this move, it instead fires a long range silver beam from its pincer, dealing high damage and knockback.

Side special Default Fury Cutter 1% (first hit), 2% (second hit), 4% (third hit), 8% (fourth hit), 16% (final hit) Scizor strikes with its pincers up to five times, each swipe doubling in power and moving Scizor forward slightly. Though the damage dealt when landing all five hits is very high, each hit becomes more difficult to land the more you continue the combo, with the fifth hit being notably difficult to land due to very slow start up lag.
Custom 1 N/A
Custom 2 N/A
Up special Default Steel Wing 2% (hits 1-5), 4% (final hit) Scizor's wings extend and glow with a silver light before ascending upward in a diagonal angle. Its trajectory can be changed somewhat. Possesses super armor if used on the ground up until Scizor leaves the ground.
Custom 1 N/A
Custom 2 N/A
Down special Default Swords Dance 0% Scizor spins rapidly for around two seconds. If completed with no interruptions, then Scizor will begin to glow with a purplish aura, and all of its physical hitting attacks will deal greater damage and knockback for around ten seconds. If Mega Scizor performs this move, then the charging time will be reduced to less than a second.

Final Smash Mega Scizor Varies Scizor Mega Evolves into Mega Scizor, significantly increasing the power of its attacks and granting full super armor for the duration of the transformation, as well as slightly increased overall speed.

Taunts[edit | edit source]

  • Up taunt: Scizor brings its pincers close to its face, then makes a pose similar to its sprite from Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver.
  • Down taunt: Scizor leans forward and presses its pincers to the ground as it begins to quickly flap its wings, emitting a slight humming noise.
  • Side taunt: Scizor leans forward a bit and extends its pincers out forward, and emits its cry from the main Pokemon games. Based on its "ranged" attacking animation from the Generation VI Pokemon games.

On-screen appearance[edit | edit source]

Scizor is sent out of its Pokeball in the air, then lands onto the ground with a heavy "thud!".

Idle poses[edit | edit source]

  • Scizor raises its pincer slightly and clamps down twice before lowering it. Based on its idle animation from the Generation VI Pokemon games.

Crowd cheer[edit | edit source]

Female voices chant "Scizor Scizor!" followed by three snips of scissors in a fast rhythm.

Victory fanfare[edit | edit source]

Same as the other Pokemon representatives.

Victory poses[edit | edit source]

  • Scizor falls from above to appear on the screen, then swings its right arm in a downward diagonal arc similarly to its forward tilt, and remains in that pose.
  • Scizor charges silver energy in one of its pincer as the camera zooms in on it, then extends the arm towards the camera and releases a small silvery burst from its pincer.
  • Scizor swings downward with one pincer, upward with the other, then uses Double Team to fade from view.

Trophies[edit | edit source]

Scizor

This Bug/Steel type Pokemon has an armored body that's pretty difficult for regular attacks to dent, and its pincers can crush all kinds of durable objects, definitely not just for show! In Smash Bros., While Scizor can tank most hits with ease, just watch out for projectiles and fire. It really doesn't like to deal with those!

Game Boy: Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver (10/2000)
Nintendo 3DS: Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (11/2014)

Scizor (Alt)

Scizor's attacks are powerful, but usually need some time to wind up. An example of this is its Side Special, Fury Cutter. While the first three hits are relatively quick, the last two are quite sluggish. However, if you can manage to land that last blow, your opponents will definitely be feeling it in the days to come.

Mega Scizor

Upon gaining the Smash Ball, Scizor can unleash the power of its Mega Evolution. As Mega Scizor, its attacks are much more powerful, and becomes completely immune to flinching. Even some of its Special moves alter while powered up! However, Mega Scizor cannot be awakened for long, so use what time you have left to plow through your foes' offenses and launch them to kingdom come!
