Professor Hershel Layton (エルシャール・レイトン教授, Professor Hershel Layton), or simply Professor Layton, is an archaeology professor at the fictional Gressenheller University in London.
In Super Smash Bros. Dream[edit | edit source]
Originally, Professor Layton was considered to be a playable character, and out of all the game designers working on SSBD, only one knew the Professor Layton series best. Unfortunately, due to a lack of ideas for special moves, Layton had to be scrapped. The game designer in question, however, did not want the Professor Layton series to go unrepresented in SSBD, so he decided to make Monte d'Or a stage instead.
As a Mii Costume[edit | edit source]
In spite of being cut from the SSBD roster, Professor Layton appears as a Mii costume for the Mii_Swordfighter.
As a trophy[edit | edit source]
Professor Layton also appears as a collectible trophy in SSBD.
