Meowstic gets psyched!
—Introduction tagline

Mewostic (ニャオニクス, Nyaonix) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream. It was confirmed on January 14th, 2016 by Apihedron, designed to represent Gen VI in a unique way. It is the fifth Pokémon newcomer for Super Smash Bros. Dream, after Nidoking, Pokémon Ranger, Youngster Joey, and Wes. It is voiced by Sarah Natochenney in English and Chinatsu Akasaki in Japanese.

How To Unlock[edit | edit source]

  • Play 678 VS matches.
  • Clear Classic Mode as Robin, Corrin, or Wii Fit Trainer.

Mewostic must be defeated at Prism Tower. If battled by clearing Classic Mode, the gender battled is the opposite of the one being played as.

Attributes[edit | edit source]

Mewostic's playstyle largely depends on which costume is used. Therefore, Meowstic is essentially two semi-clones (of each other) in one character. However, both genders are rather floaty.

If a male costume is used, Meowstic's playstyle is more defensive, focusing on evasion, zoning, and punishing at the right time. Male's recovery is better than his female counterpart.

If a female costume is used, Meowstic boasts a more aggressive playstyle, forcing Mewostic to rush up close and take risks in order to overwhelm the opponent. Female's recovery is rather risky to offset her power.

Trophies[edit | edit source]

Meowstic
"Meowstic, #678, is a Psychic-type Pokémon. Unlike most Pokémon, Meowstic greatly differ between genders. Male Meowstic are generally more reserved and calm, while females can be very aggressive. Tucked away under its ears are organs, which generate Meowstic's psychic power. The organs can generate enough psychic power to destroy a 10-ton truck, so try not to scratch those ears!"
Nintendo 3DS: Pokémon X & Y (010/2013)
Meowstic (Alt.)
"Meowstic will play quite differently depending on which gender is chosen. If you like long-ranged, defensive play, male is for you. If you like a more aggressive, in-your-face style, female is the way to go. However, both genders share most of their moves..."
Nintendo 3DS: Pokémon X & Y (010/2013)
Psyshock
"Meowstic's final smash. Unleashing its pent-up power, Meowstic holds its foe in place and barrages them with levitated stones! But it's not over, because once they've been pummeled into submission, the victim is blasted away! Nobody will see it coming from behind that soft facade."

Reveal Trailer[edit | edit source]

Shulk is shown fighting Samus on Battlefield. Shulk is knocked back, becoming vulnerable. However, Shulk receives a Vision, showing Samus blasting him with a Charge Shot seconds later. With this knowledge, Shulk counters Samus's Charge Shot moments later, knocking Samus over the edge. A vision is shown again, with Samus recovering. However, this "vision" has pink effects. Suddenly, as Samus tries to recover, a figure warps in the way and blasts her down. Then, the figure recovers and lands. The strange character is revealed to be a female Meowstic. Gameplay is then shown, eventually showing the two different forms of Meowstic.
