—Introduction tagline |
King K. Rool (キングクルール, King K. Rool) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Dream. He was confirmed on February 18th, 2016, based on intense popular demand from fans. He is voiced by Chris Sutherland in English versions, and Toshihide Tsuchiya in the Japanese version.
Playstyle[edit | edit source]
King K. Rool can be seen as a standard heavyweight. He's strong, yet slow, and while his heaviness prevents launching, it makes combos easier. K. Rool is noticeably disadvantaged in the air, as his weight and low mobility will cripple his recovery. Furthermore, K. Rool has only one recovery move, which makes whatever recovery he has predictable.

Neutral special | Default | Blunderbuss | gas cloud: 2% (per hit) Kannonball: 8% spike ball: 15% |
K. Rool pulls out his blunderbuss and begins charging up. This move has three stages: The first stage fires a gas cloud, which deals multiple trapping hits. The next stage is a Kannonball, which flies quicker than the gas cloud. It deals a single hit, with decent knockback. The final stage is a spike ball, which bounces along the ground. Similar to the Kannonball, it only deals one hit, but it is more erratic and is much stronger. |
Custom 1 | Konstant Kannon | 9% | Always fires a quick Kannonball.
Custom 2 | Freeze Gas | 5% | Always fires a special gas cloud, which freeze opponents.
Side special | Default | Krownerang | 9% (near), 7% (middle), 5% (far), 3% (return) | K. Rool tosses his crown, which acts like a boomerang. |
Custom 1 | Loose Krown | 9% | K. Rool's crown will not return to him, and instead will keep going through enemies for a long distance. It will then disappear, and reappear on his head.
Custom 2 | Krown Kutter | 3% (per hit) | Spins extremely fast, and will not return on hit, instead doing multiple slashes. Does not go as far.
Up special | Default | King Krusha | 13% (drop), 7% (shockwave), 2% (crown) | K. Rool jumps up, his angle being able to be altered while airborne. At the apex of his jump, K. Rool will descend slightly quicker, ground-pounding. When landing, green shockwaves are released beside him. As K. Rool rises, his crown can poke opponents. |
Custom 1 | Burying Krush | 15% (drop), 2% (crown) | K. Rool jumps lower, has more horizontal movement, and releases no shockwaves upon landing. However, he can bury opponents.
Custom 2 | Flying Krock | 0% | K. Rool rockets upwards quickly. Goes higher, but lacks any damage or ground pound.
Down special | Default | Kremling | Klaptrap: 2% Kritter: 10% Kaboom: 20% |
K. Rool begins to think, with a thought bubble cycling between three Kremlings: Klaptrap, Kritter, or Kaboom. When the button is released/pressed again, K. Rool will point forward, and the respective Kremling will be spawned. Klaptraps crawl along the floor, and latch onto enemies, stunning them. Kritters walk forward, and slash when they approach an opponent. Kabooms run forward and explode on contact, with good knockback. All three Kremlings, however, can be defeated if they take too much damage (Kabooms will explode if hit with a fire attack). |
Custom 1 | Burly Kremling | Klaptrap: 2% Kritter: 10% Kaboom: 20% |
Kremlings are slower, but more durable. Kabooms cause a larger blast.
Custom 2 | Krazy Kremling | Klaptrap: 1% Kritter: 5% Kaboom: 15% |
Kremling move quickly, but deal less damage. Kabooms cause a smaller blast.
Final Smash | Kredits | 10% (hits), 40% (explosion) | K. Rool plays dead, becoming invulnerable. Suddenly, fake credits are superimposed over the screen. As the credits move up the screen, they bump around fighters and deal damage. Finally, the words "The End?" appear, and explode, launching anyone nearby. Afterwards, K. Rool gets back up. |
